Create a drawing observing only the light and shadow across the objects and how they connect to each other.

I don’t want you to see a list of objects defined by their structure. Oh, it’s lamp, a plant, a table. I need for those things to be represented by their place in space. In relation to the things they’re next to…you give me some light and I’ll offer you my shadow.
On the first drawing (See Fig. 1) I used some linear marks to help define the objects alongside tonal marks. But with the second drawing I made (See Fig. 2) I used only tone to construct the drawing. A steady build up of the tonal values until eventually the objects recognisable forms began to appear.
