The Critical Review takes the form of a structured argument. You have something you want the reader to know and agree with, and you proffer evidence and lead them through your thinking so that when they get to your conclusion they can agree that it is plausible.
Art can generate the invisible elements that we carry inside, to the surface. To experience, recognise, celebrate, acknowledge or understand.
In a time of technological and media epidemics, it is important not to loose our connections to primitive and natural roots.
I came across an interesting article recently with Sati Zech, she spoke about her large unapologetic canvases and the inspiration behind them.
She previously worked with emotionally and physically challenged people. And she observed how people connected beyond conventional language. What happens when conventional language stops? Especially when you are in crisis.
This was a catalyst to creating pieces that demand your attention. Removed from traditional expectations they are an alternative form of communicating high emotion.
That statement of “What happens when conventional communication stops?” intrigues me. And I would like to explore what that could potentially manifest……..
