For this exercise you will need to produce two new drawings that use your previous drawings from exercise 1 as reference. Each of these two drawings should feature all three of your objects from exercise 1.
BORING NOT BORING
I started to look at bolder forms. I found confidence for this technique from looking at the work of Sarah Bagshaw and Sara Breinlinger, similar to Jane they use layers of collage and mark making.

I benefited from collaging parts of different drawings to create a new pieces. As studies they could be carried forward to create final paintings. Informing and transforming. Seeing the evidence of looser and experimental mark making increased my skill set for future work.

Habitually when creating an abstract piece it is very limiting without a resource. Using the basic objects as the resource to inform the marks is a very accessible tool. This has provided a break through moment. By not having a personal attachment to the objects I felt less obliged to maintain control. I was much more experimental and open to trying ideas, which threw up many useful approaches which I will take forward.
A concluding statement for these works is that many daily mundane tasks or objects are considered easy and frivolous. But often in reality they are complex and include hidden facets. To me the mundane is beautiful and withstanding. I’m reminded to respect what they represent. Function, acquisition, enjoyment, and environment.
